The institute commemorated its Diamond Jubilee, 60 years of commendable services to MSME sector and the country.
2012
The Institute celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year.
2007
The Institute has earned distinction in entrepreneurship promotion, with recognition at national and international levels. With the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act of 2006 (MSME-D) the Institute was renamed as National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme) with re-designed innovative focus of inclusive growth under the Ministry of MSME.
1984
The UNIDO recognizing the outstanding performance of SIET under the scheme of Centers of Excellence, for its meritorious performance accorded the national status and renamed as National Institute for Small Industries Extension and Training (nisiet) in 1984.
1962
The Institute was renamed as Small Industry Extension Training Institute (SIET) shifting the headquarters to Hyderabad in 1962.
1960
Central Industrial Extension Training Institute (CIETI) took birth with Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as a Department under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in New Delhi. In order to provide greater autonomy in administration and procedures to play a pivotal role in the promotion of MSMEs.
